One of the most pleasant periods to stay in Venice is the weekend of the “Feast of the Redeemer.” The Feast of the Redeemer, is held the night between the third Saturday and Sunday, of July, one of the most authentic Venetian event dating back to 1577 which has a place deep in the hearts of the venetian citizens. Early in the morning the air begins to have the smell of the traditional dishes of the feast, such as roast duck cooked with the old recipe dedicated to the Redeemer so also in the kitchens of the Restaurant “Grand Canal” where the expert Chefs cook the historical dishes combined with a touch of internationality. There are not only the flavors which characterize the hours before the feast. Venice and St. Mark’s Basin, as if by magic, becomes a grand ballroom and the Basin like a track, where the dancers, are the decorated boats in a invocative manner and reflects on the water the many colors of the decorations like a watercolor painting. At the dusk, just as they have made for centuries, numerous small boats start to come in Saint Mark’s Basin and the Giudecca Canal to start the parties and on the late evening just in front of the historical, terrace restaurant “Grand Canal”, of the Hotel Monaco, will begin the, spectacular fireworks, over the water, that will illuminate the hundreds of spires, domes and bell towers of the city as a kaleidoscope of colors and reflections. What better opportunity to stand in awe of this event and enjoy the show sitting on the terrace of the “Grand Canal” restaurant enjoying the proverbial dishes of our Chef from where you will feel touching the fireworks with your finger.
