Venice and the Veneto

A region rich in history and beauty

VENICE

If we were to tell its story, perhaps not even a brand-new notebook would be enough

It’s hard to capture in just a few lines the soul of a thousand-year-old city, founded in 421.

Captivating because it offers breathtaking sunrises and sunsets from any corner, and even the high water becomes magical — an experience the city of the Doges offers its guests.

Coming to Venice isn’t just about the Rialto Bridge or admiring St. Mark’s Square with its Basilica. Venice is a succession of artistic eras with traces still visible today. Gothic and Baroque blend among the 19th-century palazzi, just as craft traditions live alongside the contemporary.

The Queen of the Seas is itself a witness to humanity and the connection between West and East, with Marco Polo and his “The Travels”; between Christianity and Islam, with the arrival of spice and fabric merchants from Turkey in the 1500s.

The destination of choice for lovers, who find in every corner of the city the perfect place for a declaration of love, often letting themselves be lulled by the movement of the water along the canals, or passing beneath the arches of the Bridge of Sighs or the Rialto Bridge. Venice, precious gem of the Veneto and of Italy, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.

VENETO

A land of a thousand colours

The Italian region that welcomes the highest number of visitors each year. The Veneto is home to art cities, natural oases and mountains, fortified citadels and noble villas, but also to ancient villages and seaside and lakeside resorts.

Besides Venice, the regional capital, there’s Verona, known for the love story of Romeo and Juliet and for the Arena’s opera performances, along with Lake Garda as a destination for spas and entertainment.

Then there’s Padua, cradle of Giotto’s Renaissance painting, and the nearby Cittadella, a walled medieval town. Not to mention the Prosecco Hills between Valdobbiadene and Conegliano, an expanse of vineyards, a feast for the eyes and the palate.

THE BELLUNO DOLOMITES

Among the most beautiful mountains in the world

The Dolomites offer wonderful landscapes such as the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, or the Palladian Villas built around 1600.

The Veneto holds the full breadth of beauty in all its many facets. History, art, nature, sea, mountains, lakes, spas and parks make our region unique — so much so that it boasts a UNESCO Heritage of absolute excellence, and it certainly deserves a visit.
